Email Marketing and How it can Boost your Business
Feb 1, 2011 Make Money Online, SEO
Email marketing is a concept developed by webmasters who wanted to go far beyond search engine rankings. For your website to gain visibility, it is important to consider having other methods besides paying for Search Engine Rankings or building tons of links.
The answer to this puzzle has long been debated and tackled, and they all came up with only one thing; to have a direct contact with internet users. Thus, email marketing was born.
Email marketing actually is an art, and less of a science. You must properly understand how minds think, not how they work. Creating a selling flyer is not about design principles, it is about the interest that it can generate. These things are really important for your email marketing to yield results.
SEO wouldn’t be enough, this is what people see when they hear about email marketing. But just like SEO, there are certain limits to email marketing, and one of them is the common SPAM problem. If you’d clearly remember, about 1997 was the last year when SPAM was only found in cans.
However, setting the “can” thing aside, spamming can occur in different methods, and the most popular would probably be sending the same email to tons of users everytime. This will not only mark you as a spammer, but your domain and hosting account can be in a really great trouble as well. If your IP gets blocked, it is now time to say goodbye to your email marketing dreams.
Anyway, the most important tip that I can share would be to just take care and enjoy sending emails, but don’t overdo it.

Well not much of a tip! The key to be successul in your e-marketing is “content”. Only send out content that is truly interesting for your intended readers. And in order to do that you have to be well aquainted with your target audience and segment them thoroughly. Put yourself in the reader’s shoes and ask “what’s in it for me? Why should I even bother to open this e-mail?”.
Treat your readers with useful information, tips, advices, etc. Don’t just communicate “BUY our products”. That way you gain credibillity and earn your reader’s trust.

Thanks for that! Another good way to market is by simple giving out coupons with a certain percentage off your products, or having a huge banner hung on the side of a building or something like that. The list could go on for quite a while if your trying to come up with ways to better market your company.

Great article. I’ve often heard people say that email marketing is dead; but I don’t agree. I know from experience that if you build a good email list (based on trust and communication), that list can yield results for years and years.
Thanks for the great read.

I did a lot of mass marketing back in the 1980s using the postal service. Nowadays, I use the Internet and, yet, the principles of marketing are still the same although the costs are substantially lower and the response rates are about the same at 1.5% to 3%.
